NSF Fellowship Has Milk Bioactives Program Student Dreaming Big
Dave Dallas, a graduate student in the German Lab working on a new project of the Milk Bioactives and Children’s Health Programs, recently received an NSF fellowship. Spotlight on Scientists: Dr. Sara Schaefer, New Associate Director of Educational Programs
Dr. Sara Schaefer is the new Associate Director of Educational Programs at the Foods For Health Institute. She received her doctorate in Nutritional Biology from UC Davis. Her past experience with developing and implementing educational programs in schools both at home and abroad, and her experience in the non-profit sector focusing on community nutrition have prepared her for her new role at the FFHI. Dr. Schaefer shares her plans for her Educational Programs work at the Institute.
Pedianostics is Awarded “People’s Choice” Prize in Big Bang Business Competition
Pedianostics, an entrepreneurship venture spearheaded by Lorna de Leoz, was recently awarded the “People’s Choice” Prize in UC Davis’s Big Bang competition. Pedianostics, conceived of at the Food & Health Entrepreneurship Academy this past February, is an innovative venture aiming to create cutting-edge diagnostic tests for pediatric illnesses which currently have no effective diagnostics.
