Bio

Suzanne S. Teuber specializes in food allergies anaphylaxis. Her recent research showed that gourmet peanut and tree nut oils contain larger amounts of allergenic proteins than do large-scale, commercially processed nut oils, which may help individuals with nut allergy to avoid life-threatening allergic reactions. Teuber has launched a food allergy sera bank with blood samples from people with food allergies. Her research grants from the National Institutes of Health include a pilot study of wheat-grass juice as oral immunotherapy for people with grass pollen allergy, a feasibility study of the atopic dog as a model for investigating tree nut food allergy, and an investigation of T cell responses to food allergies.
